Wow. "The Burden". I drew the original sketch for this on a napkin at lunch more thank 30 years ago. I wanted to depict the burden we bear as Africans and Americans, and when I used to do arts festivals and shows I would ask people if the weight was pressing him down, of was he lifting it up.
I was always surprised at the answers and people's reasons for feeling the way that they did.
